When tyrannical dictator Joseph Stalin dies in 1953, his parasitic cronies square off in a frantic power struggle to become the next Soviet leader. Among the contenders are the dweebish Georgy Malenkov, the wily Nikita Khrushchev and Lavrenti Beria -- the sadistic secret police chief. As they bumble, brawl and back-stab their way to the top, the question remains -- just who is running the government?
Steve Buscemi does something to me, ever since he aired an opinion about tipping in Reservoir Dog, I have been a big fan of his, Time and time again he shows us how seriously funny he can be. and In his perfect acting of Khrushchev in this movie, you can almost empathize with him down the climax of the big move and how he navigates through the vacillating and unpredictable minds of greed infested Government officials who he must convince to vote him for a position they all want,
Through this, the movie portrays the real human and funny side of politics and the amount of schemes and shameful act that goes on behind the effigy of public office, demonstrated by the drive to Capital and the fight on who gets to sit with who and whose car goes first. giving us a more lighter insight on the lives of the Soviet people and creating a light hearted understanding and view to the most heinous of crimes, which is what time and good perfectly directed movie can do making it one of the most mind gripping comedies I have ever seen with characters who are very unique in their roles, one especially I like is the slow motion that introduces every character with the panache that is required, and With it is our pick for good Holiday movie so ou too might find humor in one of history most difficult times.
