TOGO; Review

Sometimes, what we want are not necessarily what we need, and sometimes we despise things that are bound to be loved.

It took Seppala a lot of time, frustrations and anger to find the true identity and purpose of Togo, only his wife constance never rejected him. She saw the energetic, loyal and leadership spirit of that Siberian, and never gave up on his venturesome audacity her husband saw as a Devilish act. An epidemic struck Nome, affecting mostly children, leaving the indigens no choice than to travel to get the antitoxin which were ready to be put on the next train to Nenana, 600 miles away. They decided to go by sled transportation since the weather was not friendly for flight.
Seppala was their hope, because he had the best musher. So, he was assigned to save the village.  At first, Seppala did not see a leadership role in Togo, he thought he would do better being a sled dog. But after he raced with his team, he noticed his virtue. He was fast, attentive, daring and he had a 'fighting till the end' spirit. And since then, he became the lead dog,The journey to Nenana was long, stormy and risky as predicted, but the young Togo was ready to overcome.

Togo wasn't only vibrant or daring, he had a great discerning sense, that even with the heavy storm and the obscurity, he was able to locate one of the road houses they once stopped by on their way to Nenana, there by saving them from getting lost and dying of the cruel weather. Although, Constance discouraged him of taking Togo along with the team, but I think Seppala didn't 'ride him to death' as she said.

Not withstanding, Togo was injured during and after the journey, but he saved the lives of the people of Nome. They were gifted and praised after their arrival but they weren't elated, because they felt sad that Togo might die. Who knew Seppala was ever going to survive the risky ordeal? But I think his self - sacrificing spirit was in favour of his survival, the team of great enthusiastic spirited sled of dogs and the great survivor, the lead dog, TOGO.
