The Leveller

Dem judge him go kack wig, and jail him brother away  no be so? - Fela Kuti

When i saw Abbas Kiarostami’s close up, and the relaxed state of the judge who sat in adjudication of a case where a man was accused of impersonating another great director Mohsein Makmalbaf,i automatically compared and found the immediate contrast between the calm and relax nature of the judge to the image of our own judges in Nigeria. it evinced another question which is:, can we really trust Nigerian jurisprudence, it is human enough and does it adequately  suffice in fairness when looking at it colonial origins? In light of new information can one say there is a  fairness in Judgement considering the alienating and punitive philosophy that the entirety of Abrahamism is cocooned in. The thrust here therefore is calling for the review of the Nigerian judicial system  on the basis of insufficiency as any one who is brought up in this line of thought cannot be said to have the mental completeness to be pontificated no matter the person’s age or level of study.

Where do individuals go to seek fairness regardless of the disparity of one’s standing, education or lot wise in life? Is today’s justice really blind? Is it in the man raised in a flawed Abrahamic upbringing of orthodoxy, of being an individuated punishment of god. A thinking which creates elitism and demarcates and give many a times a preconceived damnation to a man accused almost like from birth like an accursed Judas without checking the environmental factor and past forks on his path that have led him there or give around wiggle room for empathy

the Nigerian judicial system unlike the Iranian system which i saw in the movie as which had in it quite the humanizing atmosphere where the temper of the human sameness is used in the accommodation system of jurisprudence almost like Gluckman’s theory on law and morality
what it posits for me is that i am human and you are human we both have the tenability to err, so on that temper i state my claim on how exigent my tenability it is down the same road you have once plied and in that understanding i also can be as white as snow as you are today if given the chance to learn my lesson and change behavior.
i particularly like the part when the alleged said. the prison is good for it teaches a good man a lesson, it makes a bad person worse..
This temper is what is missing in Nigerian's jurisprudence because of the dualism of the sheep and goat mentality gotten from colonialism obviating another way Christianity ruined things for us.

Firstly, Our inability to even adopt our own and refine our own African judicial system is allayed at the outset by simple semantics of it being referred to as “traditional”  a lesser antonym to “modern” which put it as a shell rather than a meat to adequately suffice or serve a mediator of affairs in the human business. Just like the motley nature of  our traditional wedding pall in comparison to the pomp of the church wedding. Colonialism still leave us bald and inept leaving its trails aeon later.

But If morality is found in culture the morality of Nigeria’s Judicial system can be said to be alien at best, as it borrowed, flawed and slavish, A by-product of our Colonial structure where the elitism of the learned advocate attains a rather white skin,of the white blue eye God who is ruthlessness  is symbolized in character with the wig which is the symbol of the white man’s hair. Placed systematically aside  is the image of  the naked and cuffed black man is an imitation without in-depth evaluation, a conditioning perpetuated foolishly at laughable spades
how do we remove the Christian/ Muslim god from our judicial system? how do place our sameness over and as the first when dealing in human relation, more so as black people?
how is this man so opined to be weaned off the hatred of himself which he perpetuates on other like him in idolatry, in a futile effort at self negation. A rather crazed and acute inferiority complex, attention seeking and lackeying to the white god.
The judge in this movie was not pomp he might have even been a magistrate. but he called for the aggrieved family to state their claim, and when the alleged had made his allucotus he called the family if it was satisfactory all through the entirety the temper of humanity pervaded and leveled.
In contrast we are more intimated with a Judge that barks orders looks down,a bull-like face forward with a permanent scowl, a gavel and an executioner’s gown.
In light of this new, i call for the review of every prisoner in every Nigerian prison and for the reevaluation of every sentence ever handed down in a more fair trail for we cannot said to have had a fair trail. if the judges are product of a flawed system of thinking puffed up by years of conditioning
Then the so called judgement can be also be said to be as flawed as their person.

Black people are still being machinated against in a hydra and gorgon headed conspiracy that keep us enslaved from religion, philosophy down far flung to even the food we eat. It is quite the behemoth.  Our conversation and relations with ourselves are militarized, talk less about a person accused of a crime. It creates a hellish society made worse with the engineered scarcity and inflation of the economy by the powers that be.

Barrage them till they internalize it!, is our own system of investigation, how can the  Pontifications be anything but illegitimate if they all are products of a flawed thinking and upbringing. Repression, another by product of Christianity and Islam is one singular reason Africans like to strip alleged  thieves or criminals naked when they are caught. An orgasm crave with debasing of someone else. It is slavish thinking, by which in dehumanizing him they don’t mind what they do to him. T
Which is why law Faculties in the University and beyond are replete with stories of sexual harassment their thinking is imbued in that duality and their morality centers on power (read sex)
The entire Police and Judicial system are constantly embroiled in an orgasm crave in seeing  suffering, and a desperate need to act like a slave owner.
We can consider many prisoners as wrongly imprisoned until our entire judicial system is brought to review. We know all judges have a middle name called god what god once might ask  now that we are worshiping a wrong god

marijuana is the sole responsible for the close down of the dutch prisons. As black people portent to ADHD can be combated for its impetuousness  our as i call for the legalization of marijuana as it will meliorate the predisposed ADHD associated with the high twitch muscles of all black people,. that cause them to do things irrationally. (What I term as too much love/Enormity)
the high twitch and ADHD muscles are the reason why many black people are imprisoned today, the department of correction spends millions of dollars in the campaign against marijuana because the consumption of marijuana make people commit less crime and therefore make their industry which his the prison obsolete,. they even go to use these prisoners as stock which are traded on NASDAQ, how fucked up is that?
With the legalization of marijuana, they will be no need for an Army, Navy or an Airforce. This constant show of force and trading of hurt, brutality and truama associated with the ingrained disregard of human life, the solipsism and depravity associated with Christianity thinking and upbringing made worse by the daily consumption of meat cannot be said to be the yardstick of adjudication. A psychology of distancing and punitive relation to things unlike them. a lack of empathy and systematic inurance built up from years of bloated conditioning
any product of such an upbringing can only be sid to be deformed, skewed and not worthy of any pontification whatsoever
Ipods and books should be given to our prisoners. Since their freedom is already taken from them, their minds should not be destroyed also, as a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mandela once said that You know how good a nation is by how it treats it’s prisoners but if a man should err  as it is in him to do, it is only fair that he should be judged by a jury of his peer, men not “gods” or since we are talking the same archetype: not demons.
