The ghost of Malcolm X grabbed me one night quite vehemently and starting asking questions of me; asking: ‘Can you actually do it? Can you uphold the spirituality needed to uplift the black race? He said You are the very few that understand what Elijah and I was really talking about, that Spirituality is the only way to uplift the Black and African people. Of course, Fela was smoking nearby assuring him “omo mi Ie leyii” (this is my child)- Rare moments of spirituality and music listening when I blur the lines between the living and the dead remain ever fresh in my mind, and enjoins some of the reason why I maintain a life of spirituality. Sleeping with music and a state of purity is the only way I have been able to meet with Alice Coltrane, Wayne Shorter and Andrew Hill in dreams and it is subliminal every time. That state of purity becomes a normalcy that one can not only attain but can also sustain with and through music backing Joseph Hill who once said that music is the one thing that can make a man righteous.
And it goes a step further as Spirituality becomes for the black man as the only way to move up and transmute in this world, especially so in this age of scarcity and apprehension where he can’t even afford a university education. Spirituality says: if he is able to read as much books and listen to just as much music as Malcolm did in prison he too will dine with Sheikhs like he did.
Spirituality canoes us through life leisurely and monastically in the renouncing and minimal, for real wealth is portable and -knowledge, it becomes the only way for a black man to ever have a rich life in this world. Wealth here though redefined could as well as be denotative for he doesn’t have an inheritance unlike his white counterpart, his wealth stolen in colonization he is doubly so in this New World Order to go after his or goals and potentials. His major option would be then to dig at that well of his psyche through spirituality and a righteousness that repels the bad energy that surrounds him but a purity of mind that will be the beacon tap to his highest manifestation as it upgrade his radio and the consequent frequency.
The black mind have been boxed in and further cocooned by the gossamer lid of blood spewed from years of slavery and slavish thinking. It is an occluding gild that takes the highest level of spirituality for one to see through, talk less of marshaling one’s own destiny. First one must make that the mind is liberated from all prisons, prisons as in schools, churches and the mental prison of one’s society so warped and entwined a literally prison might be a freedom from what would have been an indoctrination, devolution and droning. To live a life separate and pure to attain that purity that can be made awashed in music either in it’s creation or fervent listen.
A few black people use a quarter of their potentials, some don’t even know they have one nor ever break past the point of hindrance, for the goal is to keep the black mind animal, servile and alimentary. To be spiritual, aware, he will need a patience that withstand the ignorance he finds himself in spirituality will initiate and continue the renunciation s that will set him and hoard the money that become his wealth in spirituality he will maintain a minimalist lifestyle and that will ensure it’s retain the separation from the herd need to really find his internal compass through constant introspection, self inquiry and evaluation that will better sieves and develop his mind.
Because the black man is generational poor he has to become the poorest king by the constant reading development of his ind through reading spiritual books will bloat up his psyche make his outlook outlook and become magnanimous in his thinking not allowing the current and immediate reality to occlude and determine a thinking that would have to be above petty sentiments, perception of inadequacy snide mockery back biting and jealousy even if the environment and it’s scarcity ensued all through his upbringing would ensure it’s trait.
To understand that he has been in this life before and once owned everything that he is about to vie for again, which would uphold a caution towards the materialistic. With spirituality he will conquer foes and demons, devils especially himself, A being able to take disappointments from friends and loved ones. Spirituality will put the need yin in his inherent yang lactifying and purifying that mind of darkness inherited, becomes the refinery - in with hate that churns out the love that becomes foundation for the next generation The removal of the slavish thinking, money grubbing, sleaze driven, avaricious vacuousness which totals a beggared snide and wheedling as an existence
A mind deepened and refined like a sword ready to take on the world; is why I used to say that until a person has taken marijuana and read the Bhavaghad Gita He is not yet a human being. Spirituality is the essence of home schooling instead of allowing your children waste your hard earned money to children learn integration and differentiation, indices and logarithms that have no real life application I’d rather subject him to read vedas and sutras and other holy books so that he remembers and reattain the intelligence of all his past lives and reconnect to the compass of his mind that will re-channell his path to the highest manifestation of his oversoul.
Spirituality is therefore the buoying wealth in every scarcity. Easy to find and attain, music to sustain and propulses like none other, It becomes the only way out and upward for the black man’s hands with nothing but skin on it.
