The reason I love football is because the weak can beat the strong - Marcelo Bielsa
Communism and football goes hand in hand in that they share the underdog spirit and trumping the hegemony, fighting the power and beating the strong. It's Pele in the 1970 world cup, Liverpool 4 nil against Barcelona, and Socrates Corinthians against the Brazilian Government.
Football becomes a microcosm of that bigger fight against power, money and Oil oney backed football powerhouses, Using your philosophy to defeat and win the bigger battle 90 minutes at a time
One man who still embodies that fight against money, and tyranny in football is El Loco, Marcelo Bielsa.
And who is El Loco Bielsa, he is a bull dog who coaching style, philosophy, strategy and no nonsense behavior have made him a cult figure in my opinion. Resigning at the slightest altercation, he embodies a ruthless and disciplined character that stands him out
I love how he crouches with his head down, his hands clutched almost like a prayer in win, or even while Leeds take the plummeting from bigger clubs. Occasionally you'd seem him adjust his glasses and bark orders, but mostly he endures.
Building his team from the scratch and winning the Championship his ruthless style of play is the a major reason I love him, finding out that he's a cancer, I dropped my gavel and it really thanks to him that we now and ove players like Alioski, Sergeant, Bamfor, Ayling and Meislier
I know that there must have been a reason leaning to a fondness of the austere that made him chose to coach Leeds because of their motto: Side before self, almost similar to Liverpool's Never walk alone. Particularly because Leeds was broke, he knows he would really imbue his philosophy and rule according to his design.
His strict philosophy and refusing to bow down to the hegemony no matter what, taking the plummeting believing in his team and choosing to use a translator at the Post match interviews speaking Italian instead of English is partly why the British couldn't stand his guts, made the owner of Leeds fire him even with the injured players he had and doing well against big team that season.
It was unfair but had to be done, because he was becoming a cult figure, a personality, a father figure and oozing out if him was that sweet red aura of Guevara, and Socrates that they couldn't have fans familiarizing themselves, coming to training and after matches he was known to sign autographs and hand out sweets to little children. What?
Communist football, militant Marxism and choosing to do more with less is why I love Klopp ajd Bielsa, the former choosing to use Fabinho in defense than buy another defender when Van Dijk was injured and still doing well that season.
English football couldn't stand his ideal. I will never forget how he turned Leeds into a powerhouse
I thank coaches with this philosophy who still make the game interesting to watch, make the victory feel sweeter and teach timeless things such as resolve, spirit and determination from the sidelines.
To El Loco Bielsa. Your philosophy reaches us.
Thank you.
