But remember, He knows the Bible too - Kendrick Lamar
As Buddhist we must insure we read all the suttas just like Nichiren did, you don't know which one of them will be the one that jars you out. we cannot be limited by the ones we ascertain to be provisional and correct teachings, nor ideally should there be sects and division based the sutras we have read.
We must however agree that the Lotus is the foremost, because the Buddha himself said of all the sutra I now preach and will preach this sutra is the foremost.
The Lotus sutra carry an encompassing simplicity and ease of language that show that it was designed to ferry as many people as possible, taking into cognizance the level and capacities of their minds, and it is due to that wide berth that we give it credence, for it can carry and elevate all.
However in that great ship of it, lies the library and fireplace warmth of the other sutras that we must enter into and bask in. We mustn't remain limited to the just the Lotus sutra alone, we must be willing to be open to and digest every single sutra if we can, they all are the minds of the Buddha however their capacity.
We extol the lotus for it's simplicity of language and it's ability to emancipated as many as possible. I cal it the gateway sutra because it seems like the ideal for conversion of non-Buddhist. however im it, one should deepen ones mind further in all the teachings, As Nichiren said from the indigo an even deeper blue, as they all are teachings of the Buddha.
Buddhism is enlightenment and we must be ready to fully immerse our self in all the teachings and understanding and turn ourselves into the Lion King like Nichiren ready for remonstrance and learned.
The enemy have read the Lotus Sutra and if that is all there is kn your arsenal, it is enough and faith in it would serve you, but a buttress would do well to further entrench and solidify your faith with the others.
We must inquire and deepen our mind, imbuing ourselves with as many sutra as possible.
The Lankavatara sutra extolledl by the Zen School is the hardest sutra, I think followed by the Sussidhikara sutr
We care nothing for our lives ir our limbs we care for only the unsurpassed way, but I feel they care as lot about their limbs And not add the attach the Christian ideology of clinging merely to only the salvific, looking for a heaven while not minding the earth in mulling on the Lotus sutra alone, as if to say that's harm enough.
We should follow Buddhism with the abandonment of a warrior, we are lucky to find human birth abd must do all we can to create the necessary condition for not just a next life but seek even emancipation in the now. Ready to lay down our lives for Buddhism.
I have tried, but must admit that I don't align with the SGI movement of Buddhism they don't accept any other teaching except from the lotus sutra, Were you not told, you'd think they are Jehovah witnesses with the fliers, brochures, indoctrination and fear
It is enshrined in Elitism and esoterism certain traits follow the water down of what Nichiren and the bulk of his Writings in the Gosho stood for, I tout, knowing full he would have frowned at Today's Nichiren Buddhists, it not only carries the making the Christianity's Marshall swindle, giving room for human greed and sleaze it protects against the emptying and firebrand propagation that becomes the fight which is the very breath of a Buddhist.
This cocooning which they refer as the Shoju aspect, noticeably abandons the Shakubu which is the very essence if being a Bodhisattva.
The materiality they have clung on, is done to baulk one's karma a mite allowing the careful seep rather than the sometimes needed gash. But truly how many can take suffering of abandoning one's land, family or fief.
But we must be ready to leave it all and be gone no matter how painful a withdrawal it will be. Nichiren told one of his disciples who complained about not finding peace and security but have faced challenges like the rain, that for one who has enjoyed the fruits of the evil karma, leaving it suddenly will carry a toll.
We mustn't falter and understand that in this world the mind is all that exist. By deepening out minds we could become even stronger than gods.
I still pray the Gongyo and Dl believe in the changing of the Daimoku, I just feel a good stream must have depth, I don't subscribe to mindless belief, a faith found should be a deepened faith not a blind one.
I am still remain a Nichiren Buddhist but I am not a member of the SGI.
