Superb Acting in A City of Sadness

Rarely do I start a review with a poem, but A city of Sadness  released in 1989, struck along the tug of what makes me numb.

Numb in the intimation of life's helplessness, Have a brother deaf, another missing and the other beaten to imbecility after being cured of insanity from fighting in a war. But you must you pray, and believe, take some photos but is it enough?

the acting in this movie and most of Hsien's movies  shows why he is the backbone of the Taiwan New Age, His portrayal are always so natural as the actors are so at ease.

It is a deliberate disjointed plot in flashbacks and scenes but one that constitutes a flashpoint to highlight the story of Taiwan as the city of sadness master of irony in between frames he is a poet of cinema

Using a family he atomize the unfortunate story of an Island from one occupier to the next, Know that a photo carry more than just it's images.

The talk about politics was so natural the dead man wen Cheng character acted his role do perfectly, Hsiao Hsien attention to details, I like that he always looked for his pen before asking from others and I really like seeing this movie. The father is a gangster if gangsterism was loquaciousness,but he was no threat.

But it's the little fight in the diaphragm that prove one is worth something like a squirm to a talon, life is a series of unfortunate events and you still have to fathom a fight, Just like you it is deaf to your plights.
