Interpretation and Conducting

Zubin Mehta

Claudio Abbado

Leonard Bernstein

Herbert Von Karajan

Simon Rattle

In as much as Rachmaninov above all gets my melancholy, I think Abbado is one of the greatest conductors, But every single one of these pillars have a particular tinge they bring to the interpretation of a piece.

There's a transcendent interlocution between conductor and Composer that is beyond space and time, especially when both composer and conductor share a similar zodiac sign. You need to see the passion that Abbado would do  a Mahler (both are cancers).

And it's that particular and especially that makes one look at the name in parenthesis, and wonder what to look forward to.

Rattle is all about the crisp, tight, Bernstein looks at his orchestra and flows with their tide, Is it about the feeling, the flow or purity of interpretation.

Who do you think is your favorite conductor? I really like Claudio Abbado.
