WILL THE ABNEGATION BE WORTH IT ?

Coming back home I was intimated with the story of a man and his wife who suffered to raise their two sons in the university selling the normal provisions in a little roadside store, the bulk of their sales was on bread, for which they were known. Because of the odd times they woke and sold bread to workers whose place of work are far from their residence. The son who had gone to the university obviously must have need protection badly and joined a cult group, the parents knew about his changed lifestyle and have chalked it up as the juvenile delinquency that boys usually outgrow.
But one afternoon, a group of guys on a bike came and met The father of the body  sleeping on the mat outside the shop which was now a shadow of its former self, courtesy of said boy, and shot him, Calling it a Retaliation.
And I ask Will the abnegation worth it?
At that time, will the father  remember every piece of clothing he denied himself?, every shoe He could have bought? but remembered that boy at home who will need the money more than him to buy books, or to go to school only for his life to be summed up as a Retaliation
Parents are always consumed with the fear of their children being wasted investments some go as far as locking up their children in the house in a bid to protect them. I kwe na ka ihere me mu  meaning Don’t let me be put to shame is one of the first sentences every Igbo parent acquaint their children with, because they know what they go through to raise a child in this present condition we call a continent.
Also When you look at the sexual repression most people go through so as to keep themselves for that one perfect partner who would make everything okay, and they usually end up with a thug with a troubled past, an ex wife laced with 2 children, with skirt syndrome. Make me wonder if truly if the abnegation is worth it? A lot of girls refuse to talk to guys who they feel are not serious only for them to keep themselves with policies and end up with a  seriously fucked up one, you see them lamenting and complaining at how they had been so chaste for nothing. Sometimes, I just think Life is a disappointment waiting to happen
So is it?
Will it?
To that Bachelor?
To that Spinster?
To the mother who works herself to the bone to raise all 5 of them?
To the Father who struggle tooth and nail?
