Birds chirps, dogs barks,birds coo when they
are ready to mate all these courtship noises and I began to wonder if humans
have their own too. And truthfully we do a similar call for attention and
attraction we use to tell the opposite sex that we are open to date, and this
courtship signal frankly goes unnoticed, because we pass it for a normal human
behavior when we pass by someone who sings by just moments before passing us
by and funny this act happens almost impulsively or out of reflex, in a bid to dream and look for someone to dream with. The Perfect one as we call it.
Lets not confuse this with any body singing with probably
his/her earpieces on, no I am talking about when a person sees you coming from
a certain distance and is sure of your paths crossing and picks up a sensual
romantic song to sing just as he/she passes you by. Then you can take this as a
courtship signal or a flirt signal.
Although this act is mostly common among female gender who
have the need to project their sexuality to a rather unsuspecting male might
sing pass, probably a Boys II men classic or Westlife's and this works and
sometimes the person might feel you are
probably an egoistic chorister that just wants to show off. But these form the
basis of what Nigerian females or most shy girls refer to as green light
Men are also not left out once in a while you be listening to a rap song or not,
and you could see a sophisticated woman with probably the right peccadilloes that
catches your fancy, and you pray in your mind that you both share the same
pallet for music listen maybe because she got these dread locks on uses these
mean cat eyes shaped glasses with her headsets resting on her neck and you see
her reading the Alchemist and You pass beside her rather slowly compared to the
speed you planned on reaching and you go like “Holy Cole , go Hey Hollywood
Cole and sometimes she just might look at you and say "Hey you listen to J Cole
do you have any of his latest song" or which is 9 case out of 10 she says
nothing, but it doesn’t stop us from trying or might just decide ignore you
after seeing you from a mile off and decide to just punish you and test your
courage which are usual with intelligent beaut like that .
Anyway i posit that singing can now be viewed as one of the courtship signal
apart from the obvious wooing, singing reflects through songs how we feel, create the magical moment we hope to
replicate in movies by providing our self with the perfect score when we
approach a person we feel attracted to.and it also serve as a beacon showing
our pallet and to prove if we are just as sophisticated and if the opposite
sex might find it appealing,
Just like an iguana digging a wide tunnel, something have to
serve as an object of attraction and sometimes it might just be the song out of
your mouth so,
Go ahead and sing.
