Quotes From The Farm (XVIII)

Planting is therapeutic. I will advise you to try farming, even if it is just a vegetable farm of a few meters width. I planted corn, okra, and green vegetables in an empty plot of land near a friend's place and i can say i have learnt plenty from tilling the soil to harvesting or not harvesting some of the crops, and the experience really made me respect plants in general and trees specifically. I mean these things are practically immortal, they feed us, they are content, they are quiet, they are beautiful and require no assistance whatsoever from us, they can take all our hurts and they never complain. If you ask me plants are the most underrated form of life on this planet.
Here are some of the things i learnt from the panel of the leaf and the straw of the stem and if you really look at some of these things we might consider ordinary or just so, they atomize all of life's strife and we can learn a lot from our big brother, that little seedling.

  • A stone have no root, remove it.
  • The weed close to the plant looks like it
  • Respect every seedling
  • Debris don’t blend
  • Knee and tend to your older brother that feeds you
  • The goal of a farm is to see efforts rise
  • Rest must be taken because farming never ends
  • A dead plant still tries to help another plant grow
  • A farmer have to be careful where he places his legs
  • Every plant leaves a seed
  • When you farm you tell the ground your intention
  • The slow seed eventually becomes weed
  • Weeds make the ground pliant
  • Plant need their space too
  • Even if a plant loses all its leaves, as long as it is firmly attached, it will grow again
  • Weeds show you just how big a farm space you have
  • Trust the seed
  • Transplanting a seedling might do the seedling more good
  • Some plants are big, but not as useful
